1 egg

50 g butter

125 ml milk

A small spoonful of yeast, flour and sugar (activate with a little lukewarm water)

Vanilla sugar and grated lemon zest

Filling up

Peel and cut 1 kilogram of apples into small cubes. Transfer them to the pan and add vanilla sugar, brown sugar, raisins, chopped hazelnuts, cloves and a little cinnamon. Then let everything simmer gently, so that the apples release their juice. Then cool it down.

Knead the dough, roll it out into a rectangle and spread the filling in the middle, and cut the sides into strips. Interweave the strips and close the strudel. After that, coat with a little beaten egg, sprinkle with brown sugar and almond leaves.

Bake at 180 °C for 30 – 40 minutes (depending on the oven).

Serve warm with vanilla sauce and/or a scoop of vanilla ice cream
